Assignment / Project Number 04
Spreadsheet Formulas, Cell References, Replication
How is this project graded?
This project, like the others, is graded on the basis of a maximum ten points.
One of the goals of the project was to explore relative and absolute cell references, particularly with the copying of formulas. If there was not evidence that you used the absolute cell references (using the $ format) you lost one-half of a point.
Another goal was to learn some about horizontal and vertical analysis. If you did not compare items to the REVENUE in the income statement or to the TOTAL ASSETS in the balance sheet, you lost one-half of a point. If you did not do either, you lost three points.
A third way to lose a half-point, was to not express your percentages as percentages using formulas.
If you did not actually do a vertical analysis at all (relative percentage) or messed it up badly, you lost three points. If you did not actually do a horizontal analysis (percentage change) or messed it up badly, you lost three points. In each case, this assumes that you actually did do the other kind of analysis correctly.
Remember that the major goal of the project was to work with formulas. If you did not use formulas, or if there was no evidence that you did use formulas, you received one point on this assignment as a holiday gift for whatever holiday is near.
You needed to turn in the following to the instructor on the date this
assignment was due (check the class schedule):
1) PRINTOUT #1: A printed copy of your spreadsheet, showing the numbers
in each cell,
with your name and course ID number in the upper left
corner.
2) PRINTOUT #2: A printed copy of your spreadsheet, showing the formulas
in each cell,
with your name and course ID number in the upper left
corner.
3) DISK FILE: A copy of the disk file on which you have saved your spreadsheet.
The name of the file on the disk should be
"beer.xls"
The label on the disk should have YOUR NAME,
and the words:
ASSIGNMENT #04 -- FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
4) OTHER: The above items are all that is required for this
assignment.
